Grail Fall 2007 Collection- Nothing Less than Magic
By Gena Oppenheim Photos by Marisa Youlden

Incorporating a blend of children and adult fall fashion gear, the Grail presentation took 'edgy' to the next level.  Models slowly sauntered down the runway, keeping in beat with the funky, rhythmic music.  Keeping true to the collection's label, 'Voodoo', designers chose a gothic yet natural theme.  Elements of modern punk blended right into the assortment of almost magical ensembles.  Dark fall colors were complimented by a burst of earthy purples, blues, and even some gold glitter.

Adorable edgy children showed off a less intense version of the collection.

The show began and commenced with a group of small children strutting their stuff in rocker attire.  Adorably stumbling down the runway, each child was dressed to impress.  The three girls wore a variation of stripes and stars, adorned mostly with little sleeveless dresses and thermal tees.  One girl even rocked a motorcycle vest to add to the edgy theme of the show.  Similarly, the boys walked around in hoodies and plaid shorts, keeping in tune with the bad boy image of the clothing line.  The little guys took on a darker look at the end of the show, with browns and blacks embellished by studs and graphics to hype it up a notch.

Striped jumpers, thermals, and even leggings were key to the show.
After the charming young Grail prototypes made their debut, adult models kept the rhythm moving.  The first look incorporated both plaid and star studded leggings to blend into the kid's wear.  A variety of jumpers, hoodies, and button- up dresses took center stage in dark and earthy colors.  The supernatural theme was echoed by the jungle beat of the music as Grail unfolded a gothic twist to a natural glow.  The models seemed to be hypnotized as they showcased the enchanted fall looks.  The clothing line took basic earth tone colors and elaborated on embellishment to give each piece a personal style.  Mustard yellows, deep blues, and night black encompassed a color palate close to nature, yet hip by edgy and gothic adornments.

Funky hair played up the already edgy outfits.
Women sported extremely funky hair styles along with their rocker clothing.  Some models had long braided Mohawks draping down their necks to compliment the modern punk design to their striped tees and leggings.  The women exemplified a feminine twist on a gothic look with cute dresses and skirts.  Each look embodied a daring, tempting feel for a woman who liked to keep it dark and bold.

Men embodied the bad boy image: mixing punk with color.
Men took a similar approach with a more 'bad boy' appeal.  Each model kept to the same gothic color palette, covering up with top hats and hoodies.  A variety of suit jackets were displayed keeping to the mod rocker theme of design.  Male models seemed to bring more of the dark, voodoo side to the collection with funky accessories and star- studded hoodies.

Thermal and fleece were jazzed up with a hint of sparkle towards the end of the show, setting a metallic trend for the fall.  One look stole the show as it showcased each element of the Grail intention with a bang.  An all black, high-slit skirt embellished with a ton of gold glam.  The look was finished with a top hot and a strut down the runway to bring the entire collection together.  The Grail 'Voodoo' design brought nature together with a California street look and created nothing less than magic.
